Seismic Rehabilitation | Berkeley, CA Higher Education Building | 200,000 SF
Barrows Hall is an eight-story academic building on the UC Berkeley campus housing classrooms, offices, and research spaces. The building underwent a seismic retrofit that added new concrete walls to the building exterior for earthquake safety. As waterproofing consultant to the architect, we provided design review of construction documents and construction administration services including submittal review, RFI responses, preconstruction coordination, and progress observations for weather-resistive barrier systems, exterior sealant joints, window and storefront flashings, new wall-to-existing building envelope integration details, and roofing system tie-ins.
